Kate McCormack is a Pediatric Oncology Nurse by trade which has allowed her the ability to travel and work with youth and families all over the country, in a variety of settings. It has provided her with insight as to the value that communities and the environment play in a person’s overall wellbeing. At this critical time in history, each is increasingly more dependent upon the other. She is as hopeful and optimistic about working together to restore a healthy ocean and planet as she is hopeful and optimistic she might live to see a cure for cancer. Indeed, perhaps it will be our oceans that provide this cure?
Prior to becoming a nurse, Kate worked for many years in a variety of marketing/project management roles. Initially, she focused on market research coordination for New York-based Archetype Discoveries Worldwide and then moved to the West Coast setting her sights on the start-up world. There, she worked for San Francisco start-up TEN/pogo.com (now Electronic Arts / EA) building and managing online communities. Most recently she assisted in building the online app community and curating content for Tastemade, a food, and lifestyle media company.
She is a lover of outdoor pursuits and happiest when living by the sea.
